Entrepreneurship

2017 Possibility Grants

The Max and Marian Farash Charitable Foundation recognizes there are many 501(c)(3) organizations whose social entrepreneurial projects have limited funding opportunities. Possibility Grants were created to address this need and continue to make social entrepreneurship in our community…possible.

Social entrepreneurs play the role of change agents in the social sector by:
• Adopting a mission to create and sustain a social value,
• Recognizing and pursuing new opportunities to serve that mission,
• Engaging in a process of innovation, adaptation, and learning,
• Exhibiting a sense of accountability to the constituencies served and for the outcomes created.

Possibility Grants

Supporting social entrepreneurial projects that demonstrate fiscal responsibility while changing social needs, creating jobs, and generally helping people in challenging situations. Funding ranges between $5,000 and $25,000. Grants are given to projects in Monroe or Ontario counties. Non-profit organizations, can apply for a 1-year grant to support a range of projects, such as purchasing equipment, facility repair, short-term pilot programs, bridge funding until a known revenue stream begins, or skill development training for staff. Indirect costs that are integral to the infrastructure of the organization and necessary to ensure a viable organization, with a max of 15% of the grant request, may be considered for funding.
